Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 15, 2026
CrimeFM is operated by App Machina LLC. This policy explains how we use information when you use our app and website or contact us. For privacy questions or requests, email support@crimefm.com.
Information you provide
You can begin listening as a guest. We assign an account identifier to keep your activity together. If you sign in, we receive your email address and any display name supplied through the account service. If you contact support, we receive your message and the information you choose to include.
We save your story preferences, follows, listening progress, chapter access, reminder choices and theories. Search terms and theories you write can be associated with your account. Please avoid including sensitive personal information about yourself or other people in theories or support messages.
Activity and technical information
We record interactions such as searches, story and chapter requests, playback starts and completions, unlocks and reminder opens. We also use app and device information, identifiers, timestamps, connection information such as IP addresses, and playback performance and error information.
This information helps us deliver audio, save your place, personalize your experience, diagnose problems, protect accounts and understand how people use CrimeFM. Listening does not record your voice. These features do not need access to your contacts, microphone or precise location.
Service providers and purchases
Layers/Amba provides account services and storage for saved activity. Cloudflare provides hosting, audio delivery and service infrastructure. PostHog helps us analyze app use. Our product analytics uses an account identifier instead of your name or email; it can still connect activity to your account and is not anonymous.
Apple’s App Store or Google Play, together with RevenueCat, provide purchase services. Browsing the coin store can send product requests, an app customer identifier and technical information to these services before you buy anything. For purchases, we use transaction identifiers, products, quantities, amounts and purchase or refund status to credit your account, check purchases and maintain chapter access. The store through which you buy handles payment; CrimeFM does not receive your payment-card number.
We also use information to answer support requests and meet legal obligations. We may disclose information when legally required or when necessary to investigate fraud, protect the service or respond to a security incident. Information may be processed in countries other than where you live. You can contact us about how your information is handled.
Advertising and your choices
Where enabled, Google Analytics for Firebase, Google Ads, AdMob and Meta support campaign measurement and advertising. Depending on your choices and region, these services may process device and advertising identifiers, IP-derived general location, app interactions, ad activity and diagnostic information. Advertising measurement may connect activity with other companies’ apps or websites.
On iOS, we ask for your tracking permission before enabling these advertising services. You can decline or change that permission in iOS Settings. Depending on where you live, we may also ask for separate advertising consent. Your choices apply to the services described in each request; agreeing to one does not give permission for every advertising service. Android does not use Apple’s tracking permission prompt; separate regional advertising choices still apply where required. Available choices and advertising features can differ by region.
Declining tracking does not prevent you from listening. It does not turn off the account services or product analytics described above. Changing a permission does not erase information already collected. Contact us if you want to request deletion or discuss your privacy choices.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we use your push token, notification preferences, timezone and relevant listening activity to send alerts you choose, such as daily chapter alerts or reminders to continue a story. Expo delivers push notifications through Apple on iOS and Google on Android. A notification may show a story or chapter title on your lock screen.
You can change the available reminder settings in CrimeFM or turn notifications off in your device’s settings. Reminder permission is separate from tracking permission and does not determine eligibility for the daily free chapter.
Retention and deletion
Account and listening records do not automatically expire after a fixed period. We retain them to provide the service unless they are deleted. Purchase, coin-transaction, fraud-prevention and security records may be retained after an account closes for accounting, dispute resolution, legal obligations and protection against misuse. We also retain a record of the deletion request so we can track its status and prevent the deleted account from being used again.
To request account deletion, use Me → Delete account in the app. If that control is unavailable or you cannot access your account, email support@crimefm.com. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you, but we will not ask you to email a password or sign-in code.
An accepted deletion request closes access to that account while removal is processed. The app distinguishes a pending request from confirmed deletion. Cleanup on your device can finish before deletion from our account and analytics services is complete. A pending request is not confirmation that all information has been erased. Contact support for an update if your request remains pending.
Signing out, uninstalling the app or changing advertising permission does not delete your account. Deleting your account does not submit a refund request to Apple or Google Play.
Your requests and rights
You can contact us to request access to, a copy of, correction of or deletion of your personal information. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent or raise a concern with a data-protection authority. We handle requests according to the laws that apply to you; some information may need to be retained for the reasons described above.
CrimeFM is intended for adults aged 18 and older. If you believe a child has supplied personal information to us, contact support@crimefm.com.
Our website and policy updates
Our website host receives ordinary connection information when you visit. The main CrimeFM landing page loads fonts from Google, which receives the associated web request. These privacy and terms pages do not load third-party fonts, advertising or analytics scripts.
We will update this policy when our practices change and show the date above. For help, visit Support. Our Terms of Use explain the conditions for using CrimeFM.
